Ilan Dei

Ilan Dei is an innovative and award-winning designer of products for people, from furniture and home furnishings to residential and commercial interiors. Ilan takes a holistic approach to design in a style that can best be described as a fusion of Japanese minimalism and mid-century California modern.

Born in Israel of North African descent, Ilan Dei has clearly been inspired by his personal experiences with diverse traditions and cultures. Having traveled to the Far East, as well as other locations around the world, Ilan Dei constantly searches for the next adventure in design.

The Ilan Dei Studio is located in Venice, CA, in close proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the original office of Ray and Charles Eames. The natural world, the Eames legacy of inventive contemporary design using diverse materials, and Dei's education in wood designed furniture under master Japanese woodworker Kai Ito are his strongest influences.

Having produced his own line of furniture, lighting and home designs, Ilan Dei also designs furniture and products for several national manufacturers.

In 2000 Ilan Dei received the Outstanding Merit Award from the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers (NASFM) for his design and construction of Oliver Peoples boutique retail store in Soho, New York. Ilan Dei was a Finalist in the ASFD 2005 Pinnacle Awards for the Windows of Style bedroom collection, part of a 50-piece line of furniture that he designed exclusively for Creative Elegance.
