Chaise lounge or Chaise Longue as they are sometime called are a cross between a sofa and a daybed. Historically associated with fainting victorian ladies and roman feasts, they have been updated for modern style homes. Modern chaise lounge are sometimes look like armless or one armed sofas, but some are more serious 'relaxing machines' as Le Corbusier called his modern classic chaise longue. These are more sculptural forms designed to ergonomically support and follow the human form.
