This exceptional piece of modern leather furniture, offers a unique synthesis of good taste and luxury. Designed by Mies Van Der Rohe in 1929 for an international design fair in Barcelona.

It is said to have been inspired by both the folding chairs of the Pharaohs, and the 'X' shaped footstools of the Romans, and dedicated to the Spanish royal family. Understandably the Barcelona X chair earned a reputation as a design worthy of kings.

Materials: The buttery leather in this chair is hand sewn, individually stitched and piped, requiring 28 hours of highly skilled labor to produce. The leather surfaces which can be seen are full leather and the backs of the cushions are faux leather. The frame is highly polished stainless steel.
